TRIANGULATIONS

September 2020 - june 2021
Programming / 3D Printing on textile / Triangles Patterns Organisations

Triangulations is part of a study into the relationship between patterns and the behaviour of materials through programming and 3D textile printing.

Designing and programming the pattern. The digital definition forms the pattern, which is then broken down into several variations that are different assemblies of elements. Some of these variations are then selected. They determine the characteristics of the assembly, the dimensions and the quantity of material. This then defines the behaviour of the textile, its aesthetic and structural characteristics.

The aim of this research is to structure flexibility, to study the capacity for movement; to architect flexible materials.

Once the samples have been designed and manufactured, an analysis system is used to compare them. This document is an important step in determining the parameters of the next sample, based on the previous results. Some analytical sheets can be found at the top of this page [see pdf].

This first phase of research led to the development of the Leotard project.
